Sydney and Katy suffered from hygromas and fleas allergies. Veterinarians offered no product at the time to assist in healing besides allopathic or homeopathic treatments. Figure eight bandaging is not the easiest to maintain and having it slip off the leg is not a solution. And keeping a dog in a down-stay all day is next to impossible. Creative intellectualizing produced the elbow pad which helps in the recovery process by lessening physical aggravation, emotional stress and comfort with sore bones. The cushioned limb protector, the elbow pad, is specifically designed to be mobile and in providing comfort for the front leg elbow area when lying down or getting up from the floor without being constrictive and allows for air flow to heal.
STAGING for HYGROMA RECOVERY
As much as we love our pets and want to help them heal it is often a challenge to do so.
It is vital to their recovery, healing process, stress level and our stress level to know that we are doing all we can to aid in the process. They love to be with us, follow us around and to lie down on cool, often slippery floors. However, when they are suffering from hygromas, be strong and perhaps practice a little "tough love", patience and confinement.
Create a playpen, a comfortable space to stay in and also where they can still watch you.
Try and incorporate your favorite chair or the couch into that area. Use a wall space or piece of furniture or doggie gate. It is not a permanent furniture placement only a temporary re-design to aid them at this time. Make sure the area is cushioned, a non-slippery surface such as a mat or carpet with rubber backing. The backing will help but may not hinder "nesting" or bunching up of the article with their paws. Include their food and or water bowl and a toy. If they are destructive, please monitor any leaving of toys or take out of their area when left alone. Be safe and not sorry.
Don't forget using positive reinforcement to help them adapt to this temporary environment. And if you are like me, you'll be right there with them!
